Our Mission
The Division of Continuing Studies (DoCS) at Rutgers University is a dynamic and committed team dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for learners of all ages. We serve faculty, students, and staff by providing diverse credit and non-credit programs through various delivery methods, including on-campus, off-campus, and online formats.
Operating across more than 20 locations throughout New Jersey, DoCS leverages innovative tools and resources to enhance Rutgers' ability to meet the needs of all learners. Our services include managing the university’s only on-campus hotel and conference center, an award-winning broadcast television studio, and the Higher Education Centers, which facilitates access to Rutgers degrees through five community colleges across the state.
We take pride in leading Rutgers in supporting a wide range of non-traditional students—from preschoolers with a budding interest in reading to retirees who remain passionate about lifelong learning. Through our multiple allied business units, DoCS is dedicated to advancing the mission of Rutgers University and championing lifelong education.
We support and celebrate all lifelong learners, reflecting the core mission of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
Lifelong Learning Center
After months of construction and renovation, the Rutgers Lifelong Learning Center, or as it is informally known - the LLC, opened its doors in August of 2019.
It is a state-of-the art classroom/conference building, providing DoCS and it's non-credit units, with the essential space and technology needed to promote lifelong learning and enhanced technology encouraging new methods of learning. The LLC is also the home to various DoCS units and it's various administrative and operational departments.
The Lifelong Learning Center currently has six classrooms, a mini-theater, three training rooms, five conference rooms, four huddle rooms. Its layout also includes office space and workstations for some of our DoCS units, as well as the division's central operating units.
